Football returned to St. Louis today, and while it wasn’t the Rams or the Cardinals, it still drew a decent crowd.
The St. Louis BattleHawks hosted the New York Guardians in the first game for the franchise at The Dome at America’s Center. The building hadn’t housed a regular season pro football game since the Rams left following the 2015 season.
It turns out the Gateway to the West still has a passion for the gridiron. The announced attendance for the city’s XFL debut was 29,554. That’s not too bad, even if The Dome can hold more than 67,000 for NFL games.
Those who came out got to watch the home team hammer the Guardians 29-9. With the victory, the BattleHawks moved to 2-1 on the season and into second place in the XFL East.
