The Giants have released wide receiver Golden Tate.
Tate, 32, struggled last season, his second with the Giants.
He caught 35 passes for 388 yards and two touchdowns in 12 games, and landed in trouble with the team.
Tate was benched one game after famously yelling, “throw me the damn ball,” during a November loss.
A month earlier, Tate was involved in an on-field fight with Rams cornerback Jalen Ramsey, with whom he had bad blood.
The release of Tate frees up $6.1 million in cap space, while axing the 27-year-old Mayo saves $2.3 million.
